Guests often ask us how to get to Punta Mita. I thought it would be a worthwhile blog topic, to help answer your questions about flights and ground transport... Transportation from the airport can be arranged by our concierge. If you opt for a shuttle service, you can choose between shared vans and VIP shuttles. The VIP shuttle will take you, your party and your luggage directly to the estate. If you are more adventurous, you might consider renting a car. If you do, be sure to check with your insurance agent to get advice on renting a car in a foreign country, and be sure to obey local speed limits. A car is a big advantage if you want to discover the small towns and local beaches on the Riviera Nayarit and the Bay of Banderas.

Airport Shuttles
If you're arriving in Mexico by airplane, you can book your airport transfer in advance. Shuttle services are available from all of Mexico's key airports and offer the choice of either a Standard or VIP service level. Standard shuttles will transport up to ten people and their baggage in a modern and comfortable suburban van to/from your hotel or villa; the VIP service provides transportation exclusively for your party, taking you and your belongings directly to/from your villa.
Taxis
Taxis in most of Mexico's beachside towns and cities are not metered, so agree on your price before you get in. Taxis service is available for your trip to your villa and around the Punta Mita area. The taxi and transfer service in Puerto Vallarta-Punta Mita is excellent. Drivers are very knowledgeable and should have no trouble getting you to and from your villa or anywhere else you may want to go. The cab service is also very prompt; cabs usually come within 10 minutes of being called and are very professional. Taxi service around Punta Mita is also very reliable. ~ $90 USD/one way.
Car Rental
Car rental service is available at the the Puerto Vallarta airport. Directions to your villa will be provided to you prior to your departure by the Punta Mita Luxury Rental Customer Service. Upon arrival at Puerta Vallarta, you will be met by a car rental staff where you will receive VIP service to your villa. There are some stunning areas just north and south of Puerto Vallarta that can be explored along the coast roads, and renting a car locally is ideal and effective way to experience them. Having your own car will give you more flexibility than using public transport options and, in some cases, offer you access to places which are otherwise difficult to visit without the use of a car.

Punta Mita Airport (PVR)
The closest airports in the area are the Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International airport (PVR) located about 19 miles (31 km) southeast of Punta Mita in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and the Tepic airport (TPQ) located approximately 63 miles (101 km) northeast of Punta Mita in Tepic, Mexico. Documents for Arrival at Puerto Vallarta Airport
A tourist card, easily attainable from any airline, and a valid passport are required for travelers entering Mexico from the United States or Cananda. Travelers from Europe are required to have a valid United States Visa. A Mexican Visa is not necessary. - Proceed along Carretera Federal 200 and drive north until KM 19.5.
- Turn right into the gated area of Punta Mita.
Directions to Punta Mita from Puerto Vallarta Airport
From the Puerto Vallarta airport, the drive should take approximately 30 minutes.
- Exit the airport and follow the signs for "Tepic" which will take you beneath an overpass, bearing to the left, and heading north.
- Continue on this main road north, past several small villages.
- After driving approximately 12 miles, watch for a sign for "Punta Mita" and La Cruz de Huanacaxtle - the turnoff is on the right hand side, and will take you on an overpass above the main road, heading west.
- Keep driving on this road another 13 miles.
- Almost at the end of the road to the right are the two entrances to Punta Mita - the first is the main entrance, and the second is the service entrance.
- You will turn right into the Punta Mita Resort development, and the gate agent will give you futher directions to your destination within Punta Mita.
